Three films by Claudine Boothe you can watch tonight
Alongside the series in development, Best UK Images Production holds a body of finished work that is streaming, on sale and in use in classrooms today.
No Virginity, No Nationality
About the virginity tests carried out on South Asian women by Britain’s Home Office in the 1960s and 70s: one of only two known audio-visual records of the practice, prized by the British Film Institute and widely used by researchers.
Skin and Coal
Two generations of Black British coal miners in Doncaster, Leeds and Nottingham tell their own story. The only known film record of Caribbean people’s presence in Britain’s coal industry, used in teaching at the University of Nottingham.
The African History of Sport
Olympic and popular sports traced back to the ancient civilisations of Africa, and a tribute to the athletes who challenged the notion of racial supremacy. Premiered for Black History Month with Black History Studies.
