Jesus Was Black

Exploring the Ethnicity and Colour of Jesus: A Revelatory Documentary Series

Introduction

BUKI Production Ltd. seeks part funding for six 60-minute documentaries delving into the ‘ethnicity and colour’ of Jesus. This series aims to question and explore traditional representations of Jesus across history and culture.

Documentaries in the Series:

  1. Doc 1: “His Holy Names: Jesus, Joshua, and Yeshua”
  2. Doc 2: “His Ethnicity and Colour – Leonardo Da Vinci’s Depiction of Jesus”
  3. Doc 3: “Euro-Catholic Iconography: ‘The Black Madonna and Child'”
  4. Doc 4: “The Hebrew Yeshua: Who Was He?”
  5. Doc 5: “The Coptic Joshua: Who Was He?”
  6. Doc 6: “The Future of White Jesus: Is This Representation Sustainable?”

Key Question: Why does Catholic Europe worship the Black Madonna and her black child? Does this suggest that Jesus was a black man born of a black woman? This is an increasingly prevalent perception among Generation Z.

Historical and Cultural Context: The idea that Jesus, known as Yeshua, was a dark-skinned Galilean Jew is explored. The contemporary significance of “race” at that time was not a relevant issue. Additionally, the portrayal of Mary, the mother of Jesus, as the Black Madonna by certain European countries is analysed.
